With a second review, Microsoft revealed it is build for windows 10 19H2 feature update AKA build 18362.10005 for slow ring which are users who own a valid license of Windows 10 and they are true risk takers and technically able to receive and test Microsoft’s early updates.
According to Microsoft announcement, insiders will start receive updates as a Cumulative Update and not a full build update. The build will contain fixes included in KB4507453 for the May 2019 Update . All new features will be OFF by default and for the update not to be disruptive, users will be required to have May 2019 before they can install the 19H2 .
The features in 19H2 update are :
- A change enabling third-party digital assistants like Amazon’s Alexa, to voice-activate above the Lock screen.
- Key-rolling or Key-rotation feature enables secure rolling of Recovery passwords on MDM managed AAD devices upon on demand request from in-tune/MDM tools or upon every time recovery password is used to unlock the BitLocker protected drive. This feature will help prevent accidental recovery password disclosure as part of manual BitLocker drive unlock by users.
- A fix to allow Original Equipment Manufacturers(OEMs) to reduce the inking latency based on the hardware capabilities of their devices rather than being stuck with latency selected on typical hardware configuration by the OS.
- Windows containers require matched host and container version. This restricts customers and limits Windows containers from supporting mixed-version container pod scenarios This update includes 5 fixes to address this and allow the host to run down-level containers on up-level for process (Argon) isolation.
According to reports from ZDNET, Customers can control 19H2 like other Feature Updates. For Home and Pro users, control will also remain unchanged and largely up to the user when to initiate when the update occurs. Also, Windows Update for Business (WUfB) controls will be unchanged with 1909. 19H2 will be treated in the same fashion as previous Feature Updates, and using WUfB Feature Update deferrals, customers will be able to defer 1909 for up to 365 days while staying on their current feature update while still receiving security and quality updates. A customer who is on 19H1 will continue to receive security update without 1909 features until 365 days following the publishing 1909.
This Windows update is expected to be rolling out to mainstream (Fast Ring) around September/October 2019.
